Celebrating the Year of Horse
Each year, the Chinese Chamber of Commerce of Los Angeles hosts the Annual Golden Dragon Parade. With over a hundred thousand spectators and thousands more viewing the telecast on main stream TV such as ABC7, NBC4, Telemundo 52, and many online broadcast channels, this colorful celebration along North Broadway in Chinatown has become the premiere cultural event in the Southern California Asian-American Community.
The Lunar New Year is the most celebrated holiday of the year for approx. 1.5 million Chinese, Korean and Vietnamese people in Southern California. It is a cultural tradition when ancestors are fondly remembered, and families give thanks for their blessings. Red envelopes of lucky money are exchanged, families feast on special New Year's delicacies to promote fortune and health, and firecrackers add to the fun and excitement.
The Golden Dragon Parade — There are many amazing live performances, such as Lion Dance, dance troupes, music groups, and participation of government dignitaries, local business leaders, cultural groups, and much more.
